TWO men have today been sentenced to five years imprisonment each for conspiracy to rob an Andover jewellers.
Luke Peverall, 24, of no fixed address, and Tom White, 26, of Swallowfields, Iver, were sentenced in Winchester Crown Court this afternoon having pleaded guilty to conspiring to rob David Mellor and Sons Jewellers at a hearing last week.
As previously reported in the Andover Advertiser, robbers smashed their way into the Waterloo Court jewellers at around 10am on Wednesday, September 10.
Several cabinets were smashed during the break-in, before the thieves fled the scene on motorbikes carrying £13,000-worth of stolen jewellery.
Members of staff at the popular town centre store were left shaken by the terrifying ordeal, with shop owner David Mellor suffering a gashed leg during the incident.
Mr Mellor was treated by paramedics at the scene while police cordoned off the street to carry out their forensic investigations.
