Construction on a Thruxton based garden centre has gathered pace as a recruitment drive is launched.

Work on Rosebourne's purpose-built garden centre, which will replace the former Weyhill Nursery near Thruxton, started in November last year.

The build coincides with the launch of a large recruitment drive to fill the 80 new full and part-time job vacancies.

With plans to open in time for this August Bank Holiday, the site has already been cleared, the foundations laid and the main structure of the garden centre erected in late January.

Once completed, Rosebourne will offer customers locally sourced produce, dining, traditional plants and unique gifts.

The company made two key recent staff appointments with Adam Dorber joins as horticultural buyer manager having worked as a buyer for garden centres and nurseries for over 25 years.

Valerie Kempster has also arrived as Rosebourne’s store manager and leisure buyer who brings with her experience of helping to develop Garden & Leisure Limited’s centre in Endsleigh - now part of Wyvale Garden Centres - into one of the UK’s largest garden and leisure destinations.

Neville Prest, managing director at Rosebourne, said: “It’s an exciting time at Rosebourne as we continue to realise our vision to create an exciting, thriving and quality leisure and shopping destination.

"Rosebourne will showcase the very best of Hampshire’s food, drink and plant producers in a relaxed setting, and it is quickly taking shape.

“We are delighted to have made our first two key appointments and to now promote the number of other job opportunities at Rosebourne.

"Our team of staff will be crucial to our focus on providing visitors with a first class experience and we look forward to hearing from people who share our passion for customer service.”
