POLICE have ruled out arson following an investigation into an overnight fire at an Andover convenience store.

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed earlier today that they were looking into the cause of a fire which devastated the Saxon Fields Convenience Store in Kiel Drive last night.

Initial reports on social media suggested that the store had been subjected to vandalism.

However the police have since ruled out arson and believe the fire was started by an electrical fault.

Emergency services were first called to the scene shortly before midnight on Monday 18 April.

Two fire crews from Andover and a fire crew from Whitchurch attended the blaze, which they battled for over an hour.

Photographs from the scene show the front of the shop completely gutted by the fire.

Despite this no-one was said to be hurt in the incident.
