Are you using Andover train station today? Expect major delays as fire at Vauxhall station disrupts South West Trains services.

A blaze broke out just after 2.30am this morning between platforms three and four at Vauxhall station.

The station was partially closed so that fire crews could deal with the fire.

London Fire Brigade confirmed the fire was under control by around 8.30am and that the fire is now out.

However, disruption to services is expected to last throughout the day.

National Rail warn of major disruption to services between Andover and London Waterloo a result of the fire.

Clapham Junction station was evacuated and shut down due to overcrowding, but there are reports on social media that it has now bee reopened.

Basingstoke station has also been affected:

The following information about affected services thast involved Basingstoke has been issued by South West Trains:

  • Services between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour via Basingstoke will start and terminate at Basingstoke
  • Stopping services between Basingstoke and London Waterloo, and Alton and London Waterloo, will only run between Basingstoke/Alton and Woking
  • London Waterloo to Poole and Weymouth services will call at Clapham Junction, Woking and Basingstoke in both directions
  • Stopping services between London Waterloo and Woking will now run to Guildford
  • London Waterloo to Salisbury and Exeter st Davids will start and terminate at Basingstoke
