AN OLYMPIC gold medallist officially opened an Andover school’s new all weather pitch.
Farleigh School welcomed team GB hockey star, Maddie Hinch, as their guest of honour last month.
The goalkeeper ran a coaching session for all the goalkeepers in Years 5 to 8, who were then joined by the rest of the school for the official opening.
Farleighparents,friends and members of Andover Hockey Club were invited to hear Maddie’s talk in the Sports Hall.
Father Simon Everson, headmaster of Farleigh School, said after the visit: “Maddie was an absolute inspiration.
“Her words of advice about learning from your set-backs and that ‘hard work, grit and determination are what you need to succeed’ will be ringing in the ears of her young fans for a long while to come.”
