A GIANT Easter egg made for a cracking surprise in the Chantry Centre last week.

The inflatable oval was set up in the middle of the shopping centre on Tuesday 11 April to mark the Easter holidays.

Inside the chocolate smelling egg, children were read some “eggcellent” stories by the Ting Tang Children’s Theatre Company.

These included the likes of Beatrix Potter’s Tales of Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-Duck.

As well as enjoying story-time sessions, children were also be invited to pose for a Facebook album, which was enhanced to include bunny ears and whiskers.

Steve Cotney, manager of The Chantry Centre, said: “The novelty of a giant egg alongside the storytelling sessions proved to be very popular with the children.

“The Chantry Centre plan to focus their Easter family activities around literature and art in 2017 and hope our ‘Easter goes Large’ sessions will see the creative talents of our young visitors unleashed.”

The centre will host an art themed activity today.

Curated by artists from Big Art, children will decorate a giant butterfly sculpture, which will be displayed in the centre.
