A WOMAN set fire to a tree while burning a bonfire in her back garden.
Firefighters were called to a property in Enham Alamein on Friday 21 April after flames from a bonfire began to expand onto a nearby tree.
The female resident attempted to tackle the blaze with a garden hose before calling Hampshire and Fire Rescue for assistance.
A crew from Andover attended and put out the fire shortly after.
Issuing a warning to other residents about the dangers of bonfires, Kevin Francis, watch commander at Andover Fire Station, said: "The owner was having a bonfire and it set fire to the tree above it.
"With the recent dry weather we have had a few reports like this.
"Residents should be aware where they have their bonfires.
"Be careful about setting fires too close to trees."
