AN ANDOVER charity will host a number of free events to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

Andover Mind will show their support for the national week, which will run from Monday 8 May to Sunday 14 May.

Events, including relaxation sessions, will take place each day at Andover Mind’s well-being centre on Westbrook Close.

On Monday, local people are invited to join a craft group and create something personal.

Mind will also host an event on Wednesday to give information on how to look after yourself and what to do when becoming ill or in a crisis.

Debra Ramchurn CEO of Andover Mind said: “Mental ill-health affects one in four people at some time in their life and there is still a lot of stigma attached to it.

"We believe we can help break down that stigma locally by making these events available for the community to talk and find out about mental health.

“We want to encourage as many people as possible to come in whether they have a mental health problem or are just interested in maintaining their mental well-being.”
