I have been extremely concerned on my visits to Andover town centre in the past few weeks to see rats, in broad daylight, in the area between the Town Mills car park and the Chantry Centre.
ON august 4 a large rat ran across the path by the River Anton and people were remarking on seeing several of them by the river. I have reported my concern to Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC) on three occasions and they have told me that the problem will be addressed, and I’ve also contacted my local councillors.
However, my main worry is the risk of Weil’s Disease, which is spread by rats and the possibility that it could be contracted by children playing in the Town Mills park area. I have asked that TVBC put up some advisory notices about this risk for anyone using the park. But in the meantime, it would be useful if the problem was highlighted in the Andover Advertiser.
