AN ANDOVER care home resident had a tear-filled reunion with his sister last week, just before Christmas, after missing each other for more than a year.
Tony Greening, 86, was driven by a Harrier Grange care home staff member on an 80-mile round trip to visit his younger sister Joan, who lives in a retirement development in Oxfordshire.
The siblings had not seen each other for more than 12 months and they both cried when Tony stepped out of the car to be warmly welcomed by Joan with a big hug.
Harrier Grange head of activities, Chris Martin, said: “It was a very moving day for Tony and Joan after not seeing each other for so long.
"They both enjoyed lunch together in the restaurant at Petypher House and had a lot to catch up on.
“They spent the day reminiscing about their past experiences, growing up together and what they had been up to.
"Tony also brought his laptop on the visit so they could both see old photos of themselves and family.”
