THE Hurstbourne Tarrant 5 Mile marked its 10th anniversary with a record-breaking race.

On Saturday, hundreds took on the race comprising of an off-road course taking in the beauty of the village, along with a couple of hills.

Organiser Greg England said: “The race was the most successful we have had on record with 289 people entering for the five mile. We also raised about £4,500 for local charities.”

Since its launch, the race has raised over £25,000 for charities.

Greg added: “We started off as a low key event but people come back again and again. They love the atmosphere and the mud and the bluebells but they hate Hurstbourne Hill!”

On the day there was also a 2k fun run for children which was won by 13-year-old Callum Bridges in a time of 10 minutes and 22 seconds. But there was smiles from the final runner as Amelie Lewis, aged three, bounced to the line in her tutu.
