POLICE have issued a warning after fake £50 notes were used at three business in High Street, Stockbridge on Wednesday.

Between 3.15pm and 4pm, two men attempted to use fake £50 notes to purchase low value items.

The males are both described as white in their 20s, both were wearing blue/grey shorts, T-shirts, baseball caps and trainers. It is believed that they left the High Street in a white VW Golf.

Police advice is to ensure notes are checked when completing transactions and if cashiers are suspicious, politely refuse to serve buyers and give directions to the nearest Post Office whereby the notes can be changed for them.

Anyone who has any further information or CCTV which may pick up the vehicle is asked to call 101 quoting 620 of Wednesday, June 27.
