AN INDEPENDENT ballet company is excited to return to Andover in March for its production of Romeo and Juliet.

The Ballet Theatre UK has been touring for 14 years and is now preparing to bring its tour to The Lights on Friday, March 17 at 7.30pm.

The company aims to provide a platform for young dancers to perform the highest quality of ballet and now engages more than 20 hand-selected dancers from around the world each year.

The upcoming theatrical production will tell the tragic tale of star-crossed lovers and follow the young couple as they experience romance to their tragic final embrace.

Christopher Moore, artistic director and founder of Ballet Theatre UK, said: "I had a retired gentleman approach me after one of our shows who said that he had never been to a ballet before and was so pleased he had now done so, having enjoyed it immensely.

"I think it should be considered as one of life’s experiences; you’ll never know till you try it. A live show with high visual content and rousing music will always set the heart beating faster!"

After dancing professionally for over a decade and becoming more involved with choreography, Mr Moore established Ballet Theatre UK to showcase his own interpretations of popular classical ballets.

The dancers take part in round-the-clock hard work, including rehearsals for new work that usually take four to five weeks.

The upcoming production will be a collaboration between Ballet Theatre UK and its junior company, BTUK2, which comprises the company's third-year students from the affiliate school, The School of Ballet Theatre UK.
