PLOUGHMEN and women will showcase their skills at a competition in North Houghton this weekend.
On Saturday, October 28, 52 competitors take to the field in the annual Stockbridge Growmore Club Ploughing Match. Held this year at North Houghton by kind permission of the Busk family, there are seven classes for all types of tractors and ploughs, from single-furrow horticultural ones to modern seven-furrow reversibles.

The site is on the Stockbridge to Houghton road opposite Tiebridge Farm and ploughing starts at 9am with an expected finish time of 1pm.
People are welcome to spectate. Entry is free and refreshments are available on site.
A spokesperson said: “Please remember that large machines will be moving around so care must be taken regarding safety, particularly where young children are concerned.”
