TWO Doctor Who legends are coming to Andover.

Doctor Who star Colin Baker will be performing a play in Andover alongside Peter Purves.

Actors Colin Baker, who played the sixth incarnation of The Doctor in the 80s, and Peter Purves, who played companion Steven Taylor in the 60s, will be performing in an upcoming Christmas production at The Lights.

The pair will be performing a radio play of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens live on stage on Sunday, December 10.

Baker will be taking on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge while Purves, known for his time as a presenter on Blue Peter, will be playing Charles Dickens himself.

Those who wish to know more about the production can read the following synopsis: On Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge is warned by the ghost of his late partner, Jacob Marley, that he will be visited by three Spirits - Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet To Come.Andover Advertiser: The Doctor himself, Colin BakerThe Doctor himself, Colin Baker (Image: Gage Skidmore)

Together they whisk Scrooge to the past and his happy boyhood Christmastimes, to the present to meet Tiny Tim at Bob Cratchit's Christmas feast, and finally to the future and Scrooge’s own miserable grave - all attempting to show him the error of his ways.

Presented by the Crime And Comedy Theatre Company as a radio-play-live-on-stage, the setting is a radio studio, with actors ready as if for a radio broadcast, and sound effects created live, all combining to transport the audience to Victorian London, for this 180th anniversary production of Dickens’ timeless tale of charity, forgiveness and redemption at Christmas.

The radio play will be performed at 7.30pm on Sunday, December 10.
