AN ANDOVER resident is fuming after her car hit a pothole in Winchester Road, causing a cracked alloy wheel and a flat tyre.

The deep pothole is near the bus stop by the Andover Golf Club.

Clare Envis, who works for Andover Car Service, was driving uphill towards the A303 when her car's tyre hit the pothole on Friday, January 5.

"I was following an Asda lorry up the hill. Unfortunately, I didn't see the hole until it was too late," she said.

"It caused an instant flat tyre. I returned back to work with my space saver tyre on, only to find the alloy is cracked and will need replacing or repairing along with a new tyre."

Clare is no stranger to the dangers and costs associated with potholes, due to her work in the car service industry.

"It's disgraceful," she said. "It's not only dangerous, it's also incredibly expensive."

She is now planning to make a claim to Hampshire County Council for the damage caused.
