Two children's authors recently visited a primary school to speak with the children about how the world was made

Pupils at Wellington Eagles Primary Academy in Ludgershall enjoyed a visit from children’s authors Virginia McLean and Rhian Sellier.

Pupils participated in activities to explore the philosophical topics Virginia and Rhian’s books try to encourage young people to think about.

Virginia is the author of the book Journey to the Beginning of the World, in which the main character, Sophie, is magically transported back in time to try to find the answer to the question of how the world was made.

Wellington Eagles Primary Academy headteacher Sarah Johnson-Motyl said: “It was a privilege to welcome Virginia and Rhian into our school.

"Her book is a favourite amongst many of our pupils and links in with our motto ‘the school for the curious child’. Virginia’s visit was important, as it gets pupils thinking about what types of questions there are, and why it’s important to ask them.”

Virginia and Rhian ended the day with Year 5 and 6s, giving them the chance to compete against one another to win a book for the biggest philosophical question in their class. A select few of the pupil’s questions will be featured on the author’s website.
