CHILDREN from Vernham Dean Gillum’s School have raised hundreds by taking part in a sponsored read.
The youngsters challenged themselves to read as much as possible over the Easter holidays and were sponsored by family and friends to take part in the Gromit’s Grand Read.
Gromit’s Grand Read is a sponsored readathon that sparks a love for literature and creates a sense of achievement in children and raise money for Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Senior teacher Holly Bulpitt said: “We have a love of reading culture at our school and we value books and the written word. The school council decided this was a great idea to help children less fortunate than themselves, our children at Vernham Dean are so compassionate, this is one of the many things that make our small school with a big heart so special’ The children have raised an amazing £355 – an amazing accomplishment for a small school.
“Well done to all the children and their families for supporting such a worthy cause.”
