A CREMATORIUM in Andover will be closed to the public for six months as it undergoes 'development'.

Charlton Park Crematorium, which is owned by Pure Cremation, holds funeral services for family members to mourn their loved ones, as well as direct cremations without friends or family present.

A spokesperson for Pure Cremation said: "Pure Cremation’s crematorium at Charlton Park in Andover is being further developed and enhanced, to ensure we have the very best facilities and can continue to give the families we serve the very best care.

"While the work is being carried out, the crematorium will be closed to the public and the chapel and rooms for families to hold a service at Charlton Park will be unavailable. The crematorium itself is unaffected and will continue to perform cremations."

The state-of-the-art facility opened in December 2018, costing £6.5m to build, with specialist filters to reduce its impact on air pollution and minimised energy usage.

Charlton Park Crematorium will shut for families on Friday, May 3, with plans to reopen in November 2024.
