AFRICAN rhythms took over Andover’s King Arthur’s Way on Friday as youngsters, adults and even firemen got involved in drumming.
As part of the Test Valley Community Services Turn-around Project, the African drumming workshop visited the hall during the half-term break programme.
During a morning session, children were able to play the drums as well as other percussion instruments, while the workshop took a family-focused approach in the afternoon, allowing parents to play too.
Firemen from Andover fire station even paid a visit to have a go on the drums and meet youngsters.
Mags Todd, the event’s organiser, said: “We thought we would do drumming as it’s something all ages like to get involved in, so it’s something for the whole community and something that anyone can have a go at.
“It hopes to raise aspirations as you never know you could get people who’ve never tried something like this before who might end up really liking it or taking it up.
“Everyone had a lot of fun – and made a lot of noise.”
