ABOUT 80 people visited Grateley Village Hall at the weekend to see the latest exhibition by The Grenville Quilters.

The members put about 100 pieces of their traditional and contemporary quilts, wall art and hangings on display for visitors to enjoy.

Cherie Lumsden, chairman of The Grenville Quilters, was thrilled with the number of people who turned up and how well the exhibition went.

“It was a wonderful day,” she said. “This was our sixth exhibition with the first being 12 years ago and it has just grown and grown in popularity and in pieces on display.”

North West Hampshire MP Sir George Young enjoyed his visit to see all the craftwork and he was very impressed.

“For a small organisation, the Grenville Quilters produce high-quality work which it is a pleasure to look at,” he said.

“It was very helpful to have the craftsmanship explained by the owners of the quilts and also to get an insight into the thinking behind some of the designs.”
