A charity clay shooting day at Lains Shooting School last Saturday raised more than £14,000 for Cancer Research UK and the Cancer Research UK Clinical Centre at Southampton General Hospital.

Around 130 people attended the day, with 72 of them making up 18 clay shoot teams.

Hampshire Charity Clay Shoot Committee member Georgie Nelson said: “The day went fantastically well.

“I am extremely proud of our achievement as well as being very grateful to all the volunteers who helped at the event to ensure it ran smoothly on the day.”

After shooting, the guns and guests returned to the marquee for drinks and speeches. This was followed by an auction hosted by Peter Corbett, head property auctioneer for Savills, with lots including a Porsche Experience Day at Silverstone, a Purdey Experience Day (won by cricketer and commentator David Gower) and a race day at Newbury donated by The Balding Family.

The day concluded with a shooting lunch provided by Vicki May Cooking.
