WILTSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a bespectacled Cockney conman stole a motorbike from a house in Tidworth by posing as a legitimate eBay buyer late at night.

“The owner of the motocross motorcycle advertised it for sale on eBay and was contacted by a man who was interested in buying it,” said a police spokesman.

“The man attended the victim’s house at approximately 11pm on Thursday 7 April and took the bike out for a test drive, but failed to return.”

Inquiries have revealed that the man drove to the property in Kohat Close in a stolen Ford Focus car, which he left at the premises.

The man is described as white, of stocky/large build, aged in his mid 20s, approximately 6ft tall, clean shaven, with short, dark hair.

He was wearing glasses, and a black hooded top with a white motocross ‘FOX’ motif on the chest, and spoke with a London accent.

Anyone who knows the identity of the man described or has any other information in relation to this incident is asked to contact PC Alan Cromwell at Amesbury Police Station on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information may be left anonymously if preferred.
