PUPILS and staff at Clarendon Infant School waved a sad farewell to their head teacher at the end of term.

Anthea Turner started at Clarendon Infant School as deputy head in September 1995.

She became the head teacher in September 2001 and is now retiring after 17 hard-working years.

Claire Underwood, chairman of governors, said: “Clarendon Infants has changed, developed and grown over this time and Anthea’s contribution has made this a school that has a truly wonderful atmosphere, with happy children.

“As chairman of governors I can say that it has been a pleasure to work with Anthea for the benefit of the children and wider school community.

“We would like to thank her for leaving us with the legacy of a school that has a lovely atmosphere, hardworking children and professional, approachable and friendly staff.

“This school will be a much emptier place without her.

“All of us at the school wish Anthea a long, healthy and happy retirement.”
