GUESTS at a Stockbridge hotel were burgled after they left their window open in the hot weather.

The theft happened at the Grosvenor Hotel, in High Street, on Thursday, 26 July.

The 68-year-old victim and her husband left their room at 6.30pm, leaving the window open. When they returned at 10pm, they noticed that a purse, a driving licence, a filofax, an ipad, credit and debit cards, £200 of John Lewis vouchers and about £35 in cash had been taken.

Pc Paddy Coveney said: “While we have managed to speak to some people who were at the hotel that evening, we believe there are more people who we’ve not yet spoken to. “If you were at the hotel on the evening of Thursday, July 26 and have not yet spoken to the police, please get in touch.

“This is an unusual occurrence in this area, however, I would always urge people to shut windows and make sure valuables are in a secure place.”

Anyone with any information should contact Pc Coveney at Andover Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
