A 34-year-old man has been jailed for drunkenly assaulting a 16-year-old girl on London Street.
Ryan Daniel Smith, of Mercury Drive, has been sentenced to 14 weeks in prison after he admitted to grabbing the teenager's waist as she walked along London Street in February.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court and to stealing food from Co-op in Andover on two occasions in January.
Magistrates in Basingstoke imposed a custodial sentence due to the serious nature of the offence as he drunkenly followed the vulnerable victim down the street before grabbing her.
He was also fined £250 and ordered to pay £30.97 compensation for the food.
