A PSYCHIATRIC report has been ordered for a 21-year-old accused of the murder of a man who was stabbed to death in a house in Andover, a court heard.

Ben Harvey, of Ridges View, Little London, appeared via video link at Winchester Crown Court today (Friday).

Prosecutors claim that Mr Harvey killed William Rudiak who was discovered at a home in Turin Court on Monday, June 11.

Emergency services rushed to the incident at 3.11am but Mr Rudiak, of Winchester Road, Chandler’s Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for Hampshire police confirmed that following a post-mortem examination Mr Rudiak had died from a single stab wound.

Mr Harvey also faces charges of aggravated burglary, and trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence after police also investigated reports an attack on a young woman in Little London on the same day.

Defending, David Reid said Mr Harvey had been dealing with psychiatrists whilst in custody and a psychiatric report would be ordered to determine his fitness to plea.

Judge Jane Miller QC advised prosecutor Rob Welling to consider ordering a psychiatric examaniation of Mr Harvey as a part of its case.

Wearing a blue t-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms, Mr Harvey was told that he will be brought back to the same court on July 12 for a plea hearing.

Judge Miller remanded Mr Harvey in custody after an application for bail was not made.
