A CLERE pupil put in a recordbreaking performance when competing in this year’s county athletics championship in the long jump.
Holly Mills, age 13, from Hurstbourne Tarrant recorded a jump of 5m 41cm to win the event and claim the county record.
As a result Holly, pictured above, will now be competing in Birmingham in the All England Athletics Championships.
Holly’s parents originally signed their talented daughter up to Andover Athletics Club at the age of seven, after seeing her compete in her primary school sports day.
Mark Pasternakiewicz, PE curriculum leader at The Clere said: “Holly puts in lots of hours and is a fantastic prospect.
“She is very modest about her achievements and is a superb role model for any student wishing to achieve high standards of performance.”
The school extended its best wishes to Holly at the championships and hopes that she can be the second Clere pupil to become an All England champion.
