A HOSPICE’S multimillion pound expansion plans were revealed to members of the public last weekend during an open day event.
The Countess of Brecknock opened its doors to Andover residents on Saturday, April 8, to publicly launch its £6 million fundraising appeal for the ambitious extension.
Hospice staff talked attendees through the plans, which will more than double the size of the facility and provide space for 10 fully equipped rooms.
Dominic Webb, from architects Morse Webb, was also on hand during the open day to talk through his company’s impressive design.
Dame Mary Fagan, chairman of the Countess of Brecknock Hospice Trust, said: “I was delighted that everyone had an opportunity to visit the hospice to view the plans and meet with our matron, Sarah McGaughey, and the architect.
“We now have a real challenge to find the funds to build the extension and I am confident that the local community will support us to the best of their ability.”
The hospice has already raised £2.5million through receipts from private donations and reserves, while £500,000 has been provided by Hampshire County Council.
The hospice is aiming to raise the remaining £3million through fundraising and more private donations.
The charity is also running a competition to find the most unusual way to raise £500.
