MEMBERS of the public are being offered the chance to win one of a variety of prizes including a Ferrari driving experience, VIP passes to top London attractions and a trial gliding lesson, through a joint campaign with Hampshire Constabulary, NHS South Central and Thames Valley Police.

The prizes form part of a competition that aims to raise awareness of the risks and consequences of excessive drinking and highlight suitable alternatives to it.

All the prizes have been donated by companies from the Thames Valley and Hampshire area.

The three organisations have been working in partnership since May 2007 as part of a joint campaign to highlight the risks and consequences of excessive and underage drinking.

Inspector Alistair Nichols, Hampshire Constabulary's Force Alcohol Harm Reduction Lead said:: "Society pays a high price in terms of the impact of alcohol related violence and crime on communities. It is estimated that alcohol related crime and disorder costs up to £7.3 billion a year nationally.

"We aren't asking people to stop drinking, but we do urge them to drink responsibly or find different ways to enjoy themselves."

The competition is now running across each organisation's website. To enter visit the Hampshire Constabulary web page at http://www.hampshire.police.uk/Internet/news/campaigns/saferstreets.htm The questions are: 1 How many units of alcohol are in a 175ml glass of wine?

2 How many units of alcohol form the recommended daily limit for men?

3 How many units of alcohol form the recommended daily limit for women?

All three questions must be answered correctly in order to go into the prize draw to win one of the prizes. The answers can be found within the campaign web pages.

The competition will be closing on Wednesday, 30 April at 12 noon.
