THEY help patients and hospital staff in dozens of ways - so volunteers at Andover War Memorial Hospital were given a firm pat on the back recently.
Earlier this month health chiefs visited the hospital to say thank you to workers who take part in the volunteer service scheme.
Over 100 generous volunteers give their time to help anywhere from the hospital's reception to the audiology department, from running trolley services to befriending patients and even help tend to gardens and help out in the Willow Court nursing home. Test Valley Mayor Cllr Pam Mutton and MP Sir George Young visited the Celebrating Volunteers event to pay tribute.
Noreen Puttock, volunteer services co-ordinator, said: "It was a really good evening and it's a way for us in volunteer services to say thank you for everything they do for the hospital."
