THE OWNERS of a florist chain are hoping their business will blossom in a new town after they opened their latest shop in Whitchurch.

Nicci-G’s Flower Studio, on Winchester Street, officially opened on Saturday with over 50 people turning out to watch Mayor of Whitchurch, councillor Mike Kean, and his wife, Jan, cut the red ribbon.

Alongside them were owners Nic and Gregor Cuthbertson- Pell, who were delighted with the turnout from the Whitchurch residents.

Gregor said: “We’ve had an amazing response, it’s been really really good.

“There must have been about 50 or 60 people who watched the ribbon cutting and loads of customers who came through the door after.

“We’ve also had amazing comments on our Facebook page wishing us luck and saying what a nice day it was.”

The shop, which is the couple’s third after originally opening in Camberley in 2004, was previously owned by fellow florists, Flower Power, who shut down earlier this year.

The couple have since redecorated the shop to their “modern” style before officially opening up for business last weekend.

Speaking at opening the event, Mayor of Whitchurch, cllr Mike Kean said: “I’d like to thank Gregor and Nic for inviting me and we really do wish you every success in the future.

“High street retailers are the life blood of our towns and villages. We all want our economy to grow and, forgive the puns, we all want Nicci-G’s Florist Studio to grow into a healthy business and achieve the sweet smell of success.”
