Longparish CC U16 were crowned champions of the Winchester and District Indoor League after a narrow victory over Compton and Chandlers Ford.
Skipper Dan Bearpark was the first wicket to fall on 41 in the fourth over then Jamie Blackmore hit 26 and Harry Samways an unbeaten 29 as Longparish closed on 140-5.
Wickets for Scott Sturt and Blackmore and some tight bowling from Christian Dawson and Nathan Smith secured an eight run win, an unbeaten league campaign and the title, extending the club’s successful run to three titles and three runners-up spots in the last six years.
l Longparish have been drawn at home to Eversley in the opening round of the Davidstow National Village Knockout Competition.
The sides met in the regional quarter-final in 2012 and the Thames Valley League side will be keen to exact revenge on Longparish who triumphed in a low scoring game by 12 runs.
