HOOK and Newnham Basics A beat Andover by 91 runs to book their place in the semi-finals of the Guy Jewell Cup, writes Graham Merry.

Hook batted first in the all Southern League Division One clash and posted a very respectable 198-7 from their 20 overs.

Harry Warner (72 off 37 balls) and Sam Lockwood (60 from 30 balls) were the stars with the bat. Johnny Myumbu 2-31 was the chief wicket taker.

In reply, Andover were bowled out for 107 as Babu Vettil (28) and Matt Knight (28) top scored.

Lewis Watts 3-22 and Jack Murrell 3-26 were the top Hook bowlers.

Next week, holders Basingstoke and North Hants start their cup defence against Odiham and Greywell (Monday June 12) and then on the following evening in the Cyril Thompson Trophy, Overton face Herriard.

Both games are at May’s Bounty starting at 6pm and admission is free.
