Brockenhurst 1 Andover New Street 1

Andover New Street held sixth-placed Brockenhurst for a 1-1 draw away from home as football returned to normality last Saturday with no floods or frost, and sunshine on a day that was almost springlike.

The home side were neat and quick in possession with full back Ronan Moore a constant threat on the left flank

The combination of Williams and Claudio Herbert won Street a corner before the home side had three in quick succession as they continued to push forward.

Mikey Davis was bought down on the edge of the area but Cook’s free kick was well saved at full stretch by Heath Bertram in the home goal with James Mayo then producing an equally fine save in tipping a Moore shot over the bar.

A Liam Hibberd cross was headed over his own bar by a defender, and as the half moved into the final five minutes, Street took the lead.

Herbert won the ball in midfield, his pass split the defence and Layton Tulk beat the advancing Bertram, firing low into the corner of the net. (0-1)

Marcello Rossi rather wasted a free kick in a promising position for Brock and a cross from Jonny Davis was headed wide at the far post. So, it was New Street who went in ahead at the break despite having had less of the possession overall.

Within a minute of the second half starting Mikey Davis limped off after a 50-50 challenge and was replaced by Brad Waters and Hibberd was booked for seemingly kicking the ball away.

The home side were enjoying a spell of pressure and Lee Morris replaced Williams and was quickly in the action, his shot grazing the far post after clever play by Herbert.

With two minutes remaining in the game, Akiato-Hall forced his way down the left and his precise pull back was hammered high into the net by Brandon Chennell to level the scores. (1-1)
