ANDOVER Lions recorded their 11th consecutive league win on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Sway.

The Hampshire Premier League Division One title chasers are yet to drop a point this season, collecting a maximum 33 points from their opening 11 games.

Playing without first choice players Joe Wright and Jazz Beavis, the Lions started the game slowly, with the visitors dominating the opening quarter of an hour.

However the early nerves were soon dispelled when on 19 minutes Kris Hudson lifted the ball over the Sway goalkeeper after being picked out from a cross by Shane Lock.

The goal raised The Lions who created chances through John Robb and Alex Wright.

However neither could add to the home side’s advantage going into half time.

The Lions played the second half with a strong wind behind them and not surprisingly opened the stronger of the two teams in the second half.

Lock went close when his miss hit shot was fumbled by Langdown, who almost spooned the ball into Andover Lions’ Chris Paris on the ball during his side’s 2-0 league win against Sway - Their 11th consecutive league win this season his own net.

Returning stars Zac Neve and Tommy Stringer were both introduced halfway through the half as The Lions looked to increase their lead and Neve had two efforts within two minutes of coming on.

Paris came closest to increasing the lead but his 20 yard drive cannoned of the post before hitting a defender and ricocheting behind for a corner.

Andover’s failure to convert their chances were threatening to be a major problem.

In the 89th minute it looked like Andover were to drop their first points of the season when Sway substitute Jones found himself free inside the six-yard-box but a point blank save from Dan Magee maintained their lead.

Two minutes into added time The Lions won a corner and Lock picked out an unmarked Neve inside the box to head home and secure the points and a 2-0 victory.

After the match club secretary Chris Paris said: “We knew Sway were a good side from our trip there in the summer when they held us until the 85th minute and also that they beat Four Marks a few weeks ago.

“They played just as we expected them to and gave us a tough game again.

“Our opening goal helped us to play with a little less anxiety than we might have had if we were kept at bay for longer but we should have added to our tally in the second half to give us a bit more comfort.”

“We have conceded just once now in our last five league games and that is a credit to the whole side, we’re very pleased with the progress we are making.”
