WELL, I thought we ‘4 toons’ were knocking on a bit. So many congratulations to the Andover Old Time Music Hall Society, with an average age of 77, who are still performing after nearly 40 years.

Like us, they bring music and fun to the elderly and disabled. We find that the residents of care homes, sheltered housing etc. are thrilled to have a show brought to them, that they can participate in and which brings back lots of memories. It also has a wonderful effect on those with dementia, for they always remember the old songs.

Our songs vary from ‘Old Tyme’ to musicals, folk, country and popular songs of the 1950s to 1970s and we have met so many wonderful people through taking our shows to them. We also entertain younger disabled people, such as in the Gateway Club at the Hayward Suite, who love to have a dance - the ladies competing for a bop with our Dave.

Like the lovely Music Hall members, I hope we ‘4 toons’ will continue playing for many years to come.
