BRIDGE the gap.

After parking my car in South Street carpark, I walked towards the river and caught sight of a toddler squealing with delight as he walked to the top of the bridge and then ran as fast as his little legs would carry him down the slope of the bridge to his mother.

It put a smile on my face and I made a comment to his mum. She replied that he’d just discovered the slope on the bridge and he loved the sensation when running down.

I then wondered about what brings us delight. The simple things of life: spending time with friends and loved ones; observing nature; the love of a pet; bridging the gap by helping one another.

As we approach Easter we are reminded of the love of God that sent Jesus to come as fully human, to bridge the gap between humankind and God, and to show and receive delight.

This love led Jesus to be moved with compassion for all of creation. It is a love that rises above the prejudices and cruelty of humanity. A love that connects with all, regardless of economic, gender, or cultural status. A love that sets an example to know and follow. It is a call to be a voice that speaks out against injustice and a voice that speaks hope into hopelessness. A love that moves people to treat one another with kindness; to show compassion; and to delight in every facet of God’s love. May we be the people we were created to be.

The Bible tells us that the Lord God is with us; that God is strong to rescue; that God is able to calm our fears with His love and that God takes great delight in YOU!

Have a Blessed Easter.
