RESPONDING to the lady who wants the carnival to be re-routed (Letters, July 27); I live in Weyhill Road and I look forward to that one day each year when the traffic stops and we get a chance to feel like a community.
Neighbours come out for a chat as their families gather to watch the carnival with them. The carnival spirit makes it a lovely time for all involved.
I’m also a bus user but the advance notice given meant I could make other arrangements to get home at lunchtime.
There is a bus stop near the college that would have served those coming by train that day (not far to walk). I wonder how many people were actually seriously inconvenienced that day?
So my plea to the carnival organisers is to keep to the current route and give us our day of fun!
