I NOTE you carry stories from Winchester and there is some very good news there in the form of the new Hockley viaduct cycle/footpath.
This I discovered only yesterday when cycling from Andover to Fisher’s Pond and back.
I have written to Winchester City Council to praise them for their efforts. It would be of service to me if you could echo my appreciation of this superb project.
It was a real pleasure to cycle beside the canal without fear of falling in or having to negotiate fishermen. The path is a respectable width and looks made to last, with sufficient asphalt to prevent weed growth for many years. (This is so unlike the path from Andover to Weyhill Fair, that I use regularly, which is so bumpy with weeds that I sometimes take the road alongside, for a kinder ride, even with the traffic.) I am today, one delighted resident of Hampshire.
