I WOULD like to take the opportunity to congratulate Andover Trees United (ATU) on its excellent free fun day at Harmony Woods on Sunday.
In my capacity as volunteer centre manager for Test Valley Community Services I was invited to attend as a thank you for our involvement in finding volunteers for this local community group.
The event was a great success, offering many different activities, from orienteering to archery, from nature hunts to information about field mice and learning about bushcraft.
And all refreshments were free, including home-made, pure beef burgers, which were ‘earned’ from having a go at activities, whether you were any good at them or not!
It was wonderful to see the progress being made at the woods and to know so many young people have been involved in creating it.
The volunteer centre has been delighted to find volunteers for ATU and hopes other local groups will make use of its free volunteer support services, too.
Tessa Makepeace, Test Valley Community Services
