MY Friday morning guilty pleasure: the paper with my feet up and a hot steaming cup of tea – heaven. My enjoyment of the paper starts the very second that I get to hold it in my hand.
While news on the screen has an instant advantage, there is nothing to compare with holding the newspaper, rather like reading a book instead of a Kindle.
Looking at photos, news items, editorial, reading village and council matters.
Who sadly has passed away? Who is announcing their marriage? Who is announcing the arrival of a new born?
Then you have all the sports pages and the cars and houses for sale. School pages are obviously of particular interest to me and the letters pages are a firm favourite. As for Back Through The Pages – pure melancholy and worthwhile nostalgia. The leisure pages are immensely useful too.
For me, the paper chronicles all that has been going on for over 125 years.
