AFTER 70 years reading my Andover Advertiser, which in turn supported many efforts on my part and my racing pigeons, I’m now resting my pen and person, but will still enjoy reading my local, especially the letter pages.
In a recent edition it was reported that the police station house in Stockbridge is to be demolished. Some 60 years ago, as a young apprentice, I helped build some and every Friday, after cycling to work from Ludgershall, I would sit on the scaffolding before work started and eagerly read my Andover Advertiser.
While knocking this house down, look out for a copy I put my name on and placed in the wall cavity. It would be a very different size than today.
Best wishes to all.
