I WOULD like to use your column, if I may, to send heartfelt thanks to the good Samaritans who assisted my wife Sylvia when she fell in Bridge Street on the morning of Saturday, 1 August.

I had left her briefly so we could complete separate errands and I was in the Natwest bank when someone came in to tell me she had fallen.

I quickly made my way back to her to find several lovely people assisting her.

Sylvia did not wish to call an ambulance and a very kind couple offered to take her home in their car while I went to pick up my medications, which they did.

I can’t thank everyone enough for their assistance at the time, especially the couple who went out of their way to take Sylvia home.

Unfortunately we did not get their names but hopefully they will read this newspaper.

We only moved to Andover three years ago to be nearer to family and we really appreciate living in such a wonderful, friendly community.

I am pleased to report that Sylvia appears to be fine, although she is stiff and sore and has extensive bruising.

Once again thanks to all.
