I AM grateful to read the responses to Clare Perry’s recent letter and her way of describing fellow human beings who exercised their legitimate and legal right to protest.

Of course if the Tories get their way, this sort of action will become incredibly difficult. However, Andover and North West Hampshire Labour party firmly support those who are making their voice heard against destructive and divisive cuts imposed by this government, even if those voices fall on deaf ears.

We as the local Labour Party are extremely worried about the impact of these cuts, specifically in Adult and Children’s services across Hampshire. There is currently only one paid youth worker in Andover, employed by a local church, which we applaud. Many of our young people are already left in extremely difficult circumstances to which they need help to get out. Yet the Tory county council seem to want to leave our young people even more alone. We call on them to use some of their £490m reserves to protect the most vulnerable in our community.
