On behalf of the Anton Rotary Club of Andover may I thank the management, staff, and most importantly the customers of Tesco, for their support for our recent Santa’s Sleigh fundraisers outside the Andover Tesco Express.

The generosity of local shoppers enabled us to raise nearly £1,900 for Andover Young Carers, and as the advert says “Every Little Helps!”

This event followed on from our recent choir concert in St Mary’s Church where we raised around £900 for the Countess of Brecknock Hospice in Andover.

Readers might like to know that Rotarians pay subs to cover their overheads so that every penny placed in a Rotary bucket goes to charity not on a chief executive’s salary. In this way the Anton Rotary Club was able to donate money to the Hampshire Health Fund to fund the purchase of a motor-powered bariatric wheelchair for Andover hospital, except it wasn’t our money. The money came from our generous sponsors and of course from the people of Andover.

In a few months we will be doing our Easter Egg Tombola in the local pubs followed by the annual Duck Race in May and the Car Show in June.  We look forward to meeting your readers at those events.
