May Bowsher, who passed away on December 7, was an exceptional individual who devoted her life to helping others.
For almost four decades she led the Andover MenCap Gateway Club, where she arranged social events for adults with learning disabilities. She was renowned for organising day trips, bowling, skittles, barbecues, shows, and week-long vacations each year.
For many, the events were the highlight of their week or year, and everyone adored her for organising them. Her contributions to the community will always be remembered.
We extend our gratitude to everyone who assisted May and all the volunteer helpers. The club would not have been possible without your support.
Andover MenCap is now known as Purple Oak Support and still runs a Gateway club on Monday nights from 7pm until 9pm at the Central Club in East Street.
We are confident that we speak for many parents when we say 'thank you May for everything you did.' Your legacy will continue to inspire us.
