A TEST VALLEY community service has secured around £150,000 through a ministry of defence grant to help parents and children in the military.
Unity, formerly called Test Valley Community Services, has announced a partnership with the Army Welfare Service, with £150,000 secured through the Ministry of Defence Armed Forces Covenant Grant.
It will provide a parenting programme for military families called Strong Parents, Strong Children, around Test Valley and beyond.
The international programme, which has been running and tested throughout Europe, has been used for more than ten years, and will be adapted, providing consistency for families posted abroad.
The programme will initially provide structured parenting courses over three years, reaching families across Middle Wallop and Winchester, as well as Andover.
Terry Bishop, chief executive of Unity, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have secured this funding as this will enable the partnership to develop a training programme which is totally unique in the UK, and has the scope to be rolled out further, helping families throughout the military."
